A Alternatives
August 23-September 14, 2013
What Pipeline is pleased to present A Alternatives, Isaac Pool's first solo exhibition at the
gallery.
Pool will show a new body of photographic collages and sculptures that engage with a
perverse sense of realism, straddling between fictional narrative and material investment. This
will also mark the premiere of Pool's film "A Alternatives", the final project in a series of
works narrated by Sally Johnson. Sally's role, a character previously specific to Pool, will be
shared between three other actors in this project.
"A Alternatives" was filmed across the span of a year between New York, Detroit and Los
Angeles. The video features a wardrobe designed by Bradley Callahan (B.Calla) and a
soundtrack produced by Samuel Consiglio (Tamion 12 inch, ADULT.) and Colin Self (HD
Boyz, Chez Deep).
Isaac Pool (b. 1988, Detroit) lives and works in New York. He received a BFA from Wayne
State University in 2011 and a MFA from Parsons The New School for Design in 2013. Pool
has exhibited independently and collaboratively in New York, Los Angeles and Detroit. His
first publication, Alien She, is forthcoming on Klaus ebooks.
